When Death Takes Something from You Give It Back: Carl's Book by Naja Marie Aidt

3.0

"Nothing penetrates, nothing leaves an impression on me, nothing interests me."

They say no grief compares to a grieving parent. That no words can fully explain this kind of unending pain. And it's true. We can never understand. However, we get to see a fragment of what it's like through this memoir book.

We are looking through the eyes of a mother who lost her child to death. Naja Marie Aidt walks you through her thought process as she tries to explain the unimaginable topics of death, grief as well as recovery and mourning.

Whether you have or have not experienced the loss of a loved one, you can't help but sympathise with Naja. You can't help but feel for her.

The text was somewhat hard to read and understand but once you pick up the momentum, you realise how beautifully the book has been written.
