The Bands of Mourning by Brandon Sanderson

adventurous funny mysterious medium-paced

5.0

Absolutely fantastic, give me 10 of them.
I mean!!!!! Everything about this book. The adventure. The mystery. and STERIS. She has become one of my favourite book characters of all time
I loved how Wax and Steris fell in love. It felt so wonderfully real. How Steris is a very logical person, but doesn't fully understand her value, and Wax is able to show her that she does have value. How Wax struggles with his own duty and how Steris shows him how he could enjoy that part of his life. The only thing I didn't care for was Wayne's ramp up in sexism. Reallllllly did not need that.
Plus, the scene where they arrive to the hotel is an absolute masterpiece. If you ever forget what each character is like, read that scene. MeLaan entering the room saying "what's up, humans"... incredible. What a wild ride this book was.
