I love a book-themed book and the premise of the story was intriguing. In many places, I enjoyed the writing.
However, there were a few things that bothered me: 1) The perspectives were off at times. Characters were revealing information that they couldn't have possibly known. 2) Large pieces of the mystery were often revealed conveniently by characters in long narratives. 3) While the sex scenes made  sense from a characterization pov ...I didn't think they were necessary to further the plot nor did I think they added anything to the understanding of the characters.
