Salacious and loquacious!
Whilst the story centres around only 4 of the characters introduced there is still the usual amount of drawing room jibber jabber that makes Oscar Wilde such an enjoyable read.
It highlights the hypocrisy of high society, willingly accepting the fastidious rake as an almost integral part of any social group whilst exiling any woman unlucky enough to have fallen for his cheap tricks. I appreciate the karmic retribution the play finishes on and have a tremendous amount of respect for how insightful this was for its time of publication, even going so far as to martyr the ‘mistress’ of the tale.
