Spice was great. I think if you’re looking to get more into adult romance novels this is a good book to do it with.

I did find Isolde’s love/ hate thing became annoying especially later on in the book. It made her character fall flat for me. I think all the characters had so much more potential for development than they were given. Ironically, I think Adrian’s character was the most well done. He had solid motives and I do think the audience sees him grow throughout the book. Isolde just needed to make up her own damn mind.

The world building was awful though. I wanted to know so much more than the author provided to us. There were definitely things happening but I found myself just waiting for the next smut scene.
Spoiler or Adrian professing his love to Isolde
. Honestly, I skimmed through the ending. I still plan to read the rest of the series, but this is a romance novel first with some fantasy on the side.
