Callahan has his own destructive addictions that made him believe that he was not good enough and that he deserve nothing in life. He'd rather face his own demons rather than seek help.

The book is a bit long for my liking but I understood why it has to be written that way. Lauren Asher addressed Callahan's destructive habits and how he overcame most of them.

If I will be asked who my favorite Kane brother is, I'd still choose Declan and Callahan would be my second best. He's very sweet, thoughtful and caring and I know that his love for Alana surpasses the addiction that imprisons him. 

Also, the brutally honest way he proposed to Alana is what all woman would love to hear. :D

I dare you to take a risk on me, knowing that things won't always be the easiest and that I will struggle, although I have every intention of being the man you will always deserve.
I dare you to trust me to be your companion, your lover, and your best friend. To let me be your biggest cheerleader and the shoulder you cry on when things get hard, trusting that I will be the one to wipe your tears and fix whatever hurt you. 
I dare you to marry me.

And that's when tears rolled down my eyes. A man who has every intention to love and protect you is what every woman prays for. <3
