Because of its focus on combat, this was not one of my favorite volumes, though I like the direction the story is going in by the end. I wish we got a little more internality from Canute and could follow his character's analogous journey to Thorfinn and see how they parallel each other in patterns of thought rather than just actions. Overall though, I think Thorfinn's character arc is interesting but I can only see him failing going forward. I wonder if that will lead to another character shift and I am intriegued to see it.
