The Fastest Way To Fall by Denise Williams
5.0
This book was everything I needed in a rom-com. Britta is a magazine editorial assistant and gets the chance to write a blog about the new FitMi app. She joins the app and is assigned a coach, Wes. Britta’s goal for joining the app is not to lose weight but to gain confidence in her body. Wes is an encouraging coach, and sparks fly between the two. Britta doesn’t know Wes is one of the owners of the company. Wes doesn’t know Britta is the one writing a blog about his app. What could go wrong?
I appreciate this representation Britta gives the more-to-love women. I’m a plus-sized woman who tries to eat healthily and work out, but the scale doesn’t change. This body-positive narrative with a focus on a healthy lifestyle with moderation was refreshing. It also emphasized focusing on how a person feels instead of the number on the scale. I also loved the mixed media (text, email, app messenger, and social media) was great, even with the audiobook. It was not distracting at all.
I love how Britta and Wes support and encourage each other to find their inner strengths. This is a healthy relationship, and their romance was believable—#relationshipgoals
