His Black Tongue by Mitchell Lüthi

2.0

Get ready for some dark, I mean DARK Medieval cosmic horror. Vikings and saints and demons oh my! “His Black Tongue,” is a collection of three short stories, each with their own time-period and take on Eldrich horror. My favorite was the titular story in plague-ridden France an old friar and a girl he calls “little saint,” happen upon a destitute  hamlet that might just contain a portal to hell itself. What follows is a truly horrific battle and a cliffhanger of an ending that left me wanting a whole novel of their story. “The Bone Fields,” is an eldrichian tale on a Norse ship, and “The Knight’s of the Non-Euclidean Table,” smashes together Arthurian legend with true cosmic terror. Lastly, “The Necropolis,” dares to combine libraries and ancient houses of learning with space and long-dead gods. Truly a remarkably gory, bizarre and macabre collection!
