The main issue I had with this book was the indecision on what the point was, what the goals of our leads are. They state for the reader the premise of them, but then spend most of the book contradicting that for the sake of banter, sluggish intrigue, and side-quests that are more interesting than the main plot. The pacing drags, which you don't realize because something is always happening, but the stakes feel super low despite what's been established. A fun twist, and decently foreshadowed, I'll admit, and if you just really like loose fairytale retellings, you'll enjoy this book. If you like premise and plot over character, you might also enjoy. I think the author shows promise, though. I'd be willing to read something else by the. Also, the title is a lie. Pretty cover.
