Find Me by André Aciman

“Some people may be brokenhearted not because they’ve been hurt but because they’ve never found someone who mattered enough to hurt them.”

I don’t know how this book could be called a sequel to Oliver and Elio novel, because in this 250 page book they were only together for like 10 pages. The beginning was dedicated to Elio’s father which I didn’t understand until 100 pages in (I don’t know if I missed something in the beginning, but that was when Elio was mentioned as his son), then another 100 pages went to Elio and then the rest to Oliver.

This book wasn’t bad necessarily and I liked reading it, but it was such a strange sequel. The backside says this will be a sequel to Call Me By Your Name and then the majority of the book isn’t even dedicated to their love. The first 100+ pages was a story about Elio’s father and how he fell in love with a woman 30 years younger then him. The second part was the same concept but with Elio, who took a liking to a man that was 30 years older than him. Then there was like 50 pages about a party Oliver hosted and then the last 10 pages was about Oliver and Elio together.

I enjoyed reading this book, the writing was good and the romance, although a little strange at times, was good. So I recommend that you read it just as long as you don’t expect a long romance novel about Oliver and Elio.
