Night of the Dragon by Julie Kagawa

4.0

Pretty great ending to a pretty great trilogy. There were a couple of twists that were telegraphed and one or two that were unexpected. If you've come this far, you don't need my review to convince you to keep going. So I'm just going to proceed to the spoilers to help me remember what happened.

Spoiler
I did not expect everyone but Yumeko to die.

I knew that Lord Seigutsu (or however you spell it) was Yumeko's father. But I didn't know he was a nine-tailed Kitsune. Nor did I realize there was a jewel in the dragon that made it a Kami and by getting Tatsumi to kill the dragon Lord S could become a God himself. The monster in the cave being a manifestation of Yumeko's mom's grief over losing her daughter was unexpected and great. And Lord S using the arrow at the shrine to drive the dragon mad, thereby making its death necessary, was awesome too.

I thought the constant killing of illusions in the battle between Yumeko and her father, since they can both cast them, would get tiring. But it didn't.
