This book was a looong trek, but I understand why it is labelled as a modern classic. Through the short chapters I got to know and love the characters and their relationships and I loved how every character, big and small, had significance. Each of them provided for the story and played a crucial part, and I feel like that as a message in its own is important. I loved Liesels strong-headed character, and paired with Rudy, I loved their dynamic and was sad to see that demise in relation - I wouldve loved to see their story end together. Likewise, the dynamic between Rosa and Hans was so loveable and their acceptance of Max into their home really made their characters shine, and their bravery was admirable. This book felt like each chapter mattered. Each chapter - no matter whether one page long or ten - said its part and left its message, which really reflected the running idea of the power of words throughout this novel. The power of literature. And this book is a part of literature that I will never forget.
