Black Pearls: A Faerie Strand by Rebecca Guay, Louise Hawes

4.0

I absolutely love it when authors do a re-telling of fairytales, and this book is no exception.

The stories were sweet and haunting and a lot darker than I expected. Most are the same story, but retold from another character's point of view. Snow White is told from the point of view of one of the dwarves. Jack and the Beanstalk (one of my favorites) was retold from the point of view of the magical harp. Like Grimm's fairytales, some of these stories are definitely not meant for kids, or even teenagers.

For anyone who is a fan of folktales, fairy tales, etc., I highly recommend this book to add to their collection.
