Slug and Other Stories by Megan Milks

5.0

A perfectly weird collection of queer ass short stories that will leave you eating your tomato heart out.

Pacing, variety, imagination, emotion, intensity — this one really has it all. If you need me, I'll be recommending it to anyone who will listen.

This is one of the few collections that feels so well-edited that I appreciated each story, but my favorites were:
- Slug
- Strands
- Kill Marguerite
- Tomato Heart
- Wild Animals
- Trauma-Rama: A Collaboration
- Earl and Ed
- Take Us to Your LDR
- Patrick Gets Inspired

I didn't expect a story about a wasp and an orchid to make me so emotional, but sometimes books come at exactly the right time. An excerpt from Ed&Earl: "There is no 'should' here. There is only us. No object, no subject, just us, each of us becoming the other but also remaining ourselves."
