Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt

funny informative tense medium-paced

4.25

Really good read. It definitely feels dated in the way that it engages with race and sexuality, but it was written in the 80s & I didn't mind because it felt like it was not the author exerting their opinion on things, but rather an accurate documentation of what people in Savannah spoke and thought about it. The writing was high-quality, with keen descriptions of characters, settings, and relationships. It wasn't my very favorite book I've ever read, but it was highly readable, very engaging, and a really fun book to read. I'm curious to see the movie now, and see how it compares
