This one seemed more promising at first, then it lost me with newer kinds of magic I again did not understand (still i don't get the whole jantep magic system, let alone coins and whatever).

The main cast is still cool, nice banter here and there, although some moments etc feel forced and unnatural.

There were times I was lost, and is kellen a chosen one? Every other step he takes, he gains -(or better yet) he is given a new powerup without any effort on his part, and it all works out flawlessly.

Also I can't place this book/series, it seems mostly YA, then some stuff are more mature, some are even more childish, it is a bit all over the place.

Fast pacing keeps you reading, although the story has many holes.
Nice humour here and there, but I don't know if the series can get much better. Hope so, but I don't expect anything mindblowing.

pg163 The mage tells kellen "First, you will destroy the inventor's abhorrent creation."etc
pg170 When they are with janucha and the rest they  deduct that "Yet with all these demands, they leave out the obvious prize: my little bellegenzia bird."
No. It was very clear that this was the first demand.

I was too bugged from this one, so I didn't pay much attention to details going on with the book.
