I like the book overall, but I definitely wouldn't describe this book as a horror book. It's a thriller, but aside from a couple of pages, I wouldn't say that it was scary.
I also feel like the narrative did feel a bit thin at some points with the background leading up to events not making sense. I did appreciate the monster though and how it transformed as we learned more about it in the book, though I do feel like the cover of the book spoils a lot of that progress.
Also, the almost rape scene at the end just simply wasn't needed and added nothing.
