For Y.A. I frigging love this book. Alanna's was the first series where I saw an awesome lady take charge of her love life, and not be constrained by Puritanical bullshit. Birth control, deciding when and how she wanted kids, having several lovers before choosing someone who wasn't jealous or afraid of her, and who loved her without wanting to change her. Such an amazing role model.

But also, the story is good, I'm just looking back on its influence on me as a kid, and noting the importance of seeing that at my early age.

I've read this series several times, and love it every time.
