I enjoyed it so much, especially the main character, but the way it ended was oddly out-of-character and kind of disappointing. Maybe it was meant to be out-of-character? I can't tell at this point, and it's a series so I won't judge until I've read where this is going. I'm giving this book a 4 because it was engaging and deeply scary right up until the end. However, there were too many loose ends and confusing scenes at the end of the book for me to give it that last star. I'll come back and change it if the rest of the series does something with them. (That's if I get a chance to read the next book.)
Graphic: Body horror and Death
Moderate: Confinement and Gun violence
Minor: Mental illness
