This novel has the most interesting dialect I've read! It is challenging to understand at first, but I was able to adapt quickly to it. There is a lot of clear symbolism that is really interesting to analyze as the book goes on. I didn't go into this book expecting a romance, but I found myself enjoying watching as Janie (the protagonist) learn what love means to her, and how it relates to her independence.
