I thought this was going to be a nice solid 4 stars. I really enjoyed it. The characters, the story pacing, and the concept were all strong. And spiders! Man, spiders are scary as heck! It loses a star for not really having an ending. It comes suddenly and it's established before you even get there that it is not going to be the ending. Not really.
So, it felt more like I was reading the first half of a book (a good book, mind you) than a complete work or even the complete first installment in a series.
All said, it was worth my time and it's worth yours if you like nature beats up humanity type tales. I plan to read the "rest of the book" when I get to part 2. Hopefully it will have an ending.
