Linus Baker is a case worker for the Department in Charge of Magical Youth. He goes to orphanges with magical children and determines if they should continue to get government funding or get shut down. Until one assignment takes him to an orphange that changes his life...

This is the one of the most delightful and whimsical audiobooks I have ever read. Daniel Henning's narration is absolutely perfect, with each character and voice fully realized. The humor shines through in a way that I might have missed in a physical book, and it had me giggling so much. There is innocence and love and the feeling of family woven throughout this story about 5 magical children and their caretaker, Arthur Parnassus.

This is one of the best books I think I've ever read. The pure joy I felt reading this almost brought me to tears several times, and I don't think a single other book has ever done that to me. I already know I'll be re-reading it in the future, and I'm so excited to re-live it again.
