Dark, painful, unflinching. At times funny, but mostly incredibly raw to listen to. Not a light-hearted read, and hearing her read the audiobook made me well up with tears at certain points.
Jennette has a way of writing from the voice of her younger self that makes you truly see her perspective, including her naiveté and warped family narratives. No unnecessary celebrity gossip here, but a real and honest account of familial abuse, eating disorders, alcoholism, and the hard work it takes to move on from them.
