Deadly Brew by Karen MacInerney

3.0

3.5 stars - I didn’t realize this was a book in the middle of a series but didn’t feel like I missed much, I only noticed when there was mention of a past incident between her friend and an ex who is back in town in this book. So I think it can be read as a standalone.

I enjoyed the mystery, and I love mysteries within the mystery - like the ghost in the old German house and the Chupacabra.
My one complaint is that the characters felt a little juvenile, it’s all very surface, there’s no feelings or exploration of motivations. It’s entertaining but not in depth.
