This is a forced proximity, roommate, teddy bear MMC, confident and down-on-her-luck FMC running-away-from-domestic-violence situation. Our MMC, Milo, reads romance novels and is NOT shy about it, which we love to see. He’s one of the nice ones on the team, not much for hooking up, but also hasn’t necessarily had a long-standing relationship before either. But when Charlee, our FMC, walks into his apartment after his friend and former teammate calls to see if she can stay with him to get her away from an ex boyfriend, he can’t see any other woman the same way at all. Charlee is just his type, but he’s respectful enough to let her heal and take time for herself and even just hang out and get to know her. It seemed like these two had pretty natural chemistry right off the bat. They truly and genuinely enjoyed hanging out with each other when they had time. Charlee, who edits romance novels, works from home all day and it sounds like she gets a lot of work done and doesn’t mind being left alone while Milo goes to practice or has away games. I was actually super curious how they were even going to get together but the texting and the subtle and slow-play flirting felt natural and modern. Even Charlee getting kinda drunk one time and sending some selfies was natural and the progression, while a little faster than probably should have happened in real life for her getting over her ex and moving on by herself but is the way romance novels go, felt natural because she wasn’t necessarily looking for anything or trying to jump right into a relationship right after, but Milo truly fell into her lap. I just love how truly respectful as an MMC that Milo is. He truly wasn’t wanting to push her, and truly liked being her friend, but was slowly, or not so slowly, falling for her. Their spicy scenes were also quite cute, as Charlee was super grateful for how Milo was making her feel wanted and loved. She also fit right in with his friends, which we also love to see.
