Anyway, I did enjoy this book, finished two-thirds of it in one reading. That doesn't mean the first one-third wasn't interesting, I was just lazy.
So the story was great, intriguing and engaging more or less. It was slightly milder that the previous one when you compare it for cynicism, but more explosive (if you know what I mean) at the climax and turning points.
But this one, definitely has more plot twists and jawdrops. The mystery- it was interesting and had no lead at the beginning but then it becomes so terribly obvious. Predictable second-half.
As for characterization, it was unique yes, but so similar to the Bayview Four, like as if the author couldn't help it. For that it loses a star.
But the cliffhanger- excuse me Karen M. McManus, care to explain yourself?
