A Fate of Wrath & Flame by K.A. Tucker

5.0

I’m mostly a contemporary romance reader, but I’m a fan of K.A. Tucker’s writing, so when I heard she was writing a fantasy romance, I was intrigued. Her Simple Wild series drew me in with her storytelling, so it was something I expected with this and it was definitely delivered. Tucker is masterful in painting a picture with her descriptions and you get a very clear picture of this world she’s transported us to; a world where immortals are superior to mortals.

This is a definite slow burn and it makes sense for it to be. Although there is definitely chemistry, it takes a while for Zander to warm up to this version of Romeria as the “old” Romeria had a hand in killing his parents. The “new” Romeria knows he despises her, but is drawn to him. The only thing that saved her initially from execution was saving his sister, Annika and she’s had to prove that she’s not the Romeria he thinks he knows. There are little teases along the way, so we do get a little satisfaction from the love story along the way.

This book definitely ends in the middle of the story. Would I consider the ending a cliffhanger? Yes and no, but at a good stopping place; a good transitional plot point. It reminds me of the way the Lord of the Rings trilogy was. Fellowship of the Ring has all the back story. The buildup is expected as well as descriptions for this new world we’ve never been to. It can be a lot to absorb for some, but I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to seeing where this story goes and how everything plays out.

I was provided an ARC for an honest review. 4 1/2 Stars.
