The Broken Eye by Brent Weeks

Highly enjoyed my time with this third book in the series. The author continues to build upon his story, broadening the complex world. The character arcs and connections are extremely layered. There's a solid mythological/historical foundation in the world building that adds to the depth of the conflicts. We get to learn more about the magic system and its origin as well as continuing to explore the political system and its workings.

I didn't think this book was as good as the previous book because we're removed from the larger war that is going on, and focused more on the smaller conflicts, though they are no less important. We also spent a lot less time with one of our main, if not the main, protagonist (who happens to be my favorite character). There's still a lot going on that is yet to be explored or explained so I am looking forward to the next book.

Overall a fun read that involves lots of plotting, scheming, and politicking, as well as unexpected revelations and plot twists.
