Spindle Fire by Lexa Hillyer

3.0

I would have given it only two stars, but the very very end was a bit redeeming. Only a bit though.

The book was just confusing. The way the author jumped back and forth in verb tenses frequently, the shifting in character points of view without really explaining anything, and the way the book ended without answering any of the questions. I was also left with a lot of unresolved issues, such as...

Who is Isbe's mother? Is William really who he says he is because he seems a bit sketchy? What the heck was the point of the Malfleur and Belcouer story because it told the reader nothing except maybe hint at who Isbe's mother is. And what about the Borderlands? That whole dreamland isn't explained well enough to actually explain anything. All but one love interest seem forced, and of course that love interest disappeared halfway through the book.

It was just a bit odd and I was pretty disappointed. I won't be reading the second book, even though hardly any questions were answered in the first.
