i think my experience was influenced too much by having just read and LOVED “the hike” by drew magary, which is kind of where i wanted this to end up going 
the
giant cactus with a weird slit ?
is funky for sure and i enjoyed that, much as i  enjoyed the
talking rocks
, but i wanted MORE weird 
definitely a super moving portrait of grieving death before death but was almost too intimate for me to enjoy
