After really enjoying Infinity, I was expecting to really love Invincible too. As a big fan of Kenyon, she pretty consistently satisfies me with most books I've read by her so far. But while Invincible was fun and entertaining, it wasn't quite as exciting of a ride as Infinity was.
Even though Infinity had a pretty unbelievable plot line, I can't deny the fact that it kept me entertained from start to finish. It was pretty action-packed all-around. While Invincible did have a pretty intriguing storyline going on, it wasn't nearly as action-packed as the first book in the series, and that brought my rating down a bit because I was expecting it to be loaded with action as well.
Still, even without action on every page Invincible was a great book. As future Nick interferes with young Nick's choices in order to hopefully end up in a better place, other things are changing. New players are entering the game because of the changes happening to Nick's past and young Nick has to discern who he can trust and who he can't. Since most of the new players aren't in the Dark-Hunter books (at least not yet) I'm not even sure who he can trust or not. That's definitely a good thing though as it keeps me on my toes. While I love to see the Dark-Hunter characters I already know and love, it's cool to be in the dark on some things.
But the best thing about this series is getting to know Nick more. Despite the fact that he changes a lot in the Dark-Hunter series, he's always been one of my favorite characters, and I'm so happy to get to see him as his old snarky self again. It helps a lot to balance out the depressing and kind of emo Nick we have in the Dark-Hunter series right now. :)
Overall this is a really fun YA series. I think even non-Dark-Hunter fans would enjoy it, even though I'd highly recommend both series if you're an adult. Nick is the ideal protagonist and I enjoy the fact that he learns a new lesson in each book that will help him from going over to the dark side. :) I'd definitely recommend it to Dark-Hunter fans as well as those who just love a good YA paranormal.
