Teardrop by Lauren Kate

I am a huge LK fan and LOVED Fallen Series. I had high expectations this series would be just as amazing. Sadly, it fell a little short for me. The storyline was quite unique and I loved the Louisiana backdrop. I didn't enjoy the lack of interaction with Eureka and Ander. He spent his entire life watching and caring for this girl, yet she rarely sees or interacts with him! Next, there was the dreaded "teen triangle"...boy best friend in love with girl, girl in love with unattainable hero, hero hiding his feelings to save girl?? Uugghh...I feel like I have seen this 100X in YA. The entire idea of Brooks being "possessed" was a little unbelievable for me as well. I did enjoy Eureka! She was an amazingly strong girl, despite the horrible loss of her mother.

Overall, it was an okay read, but I didn't "love" it like I hoped I would. I will continue on with the series and read book 2. Sometimes it takes more than one book to build the characters.

Wisdom holds a candle to experience, but you've got to take the candle and walk alone.
