Midnight Wolf by Jennifer Ashley

4.0

I was lucky enough to win this book via a goodreads giveaway and am SO happy I did! I've been a fan of this entire series and have been putting off reading it because every time I finish a book in this series, I'm left anticipating and waiting for the next one.

This story brings together Angus, a scowling wolf from the New Orleans shiftertown, who is tasked with tracking and bringing in Tamsin, a feisty collar-less fox, to the shifter bureau for 'questioning'. In order to get Angus to agree to this task, they abduct his (adorable) cub Cieran. What ensues is a heartwarming and action packed adventure where Tamsin and Angus work together (and fall in love of course) while trying to evade an evil shifter bureau agent by hitching a ride with a traveling carnival (shout out to the Zipper ride that I've seen people throw up in and have forever since avoided). With the help of old and new friends they are able to resolve the majority of the issues of why the shifter bureau is hunting for Tamsin while also learning more about the fox shifters, which the majority of the other shifter species didn't believe or know existed.

I definitely teared up a few times while reading this. Any time cubs are involved in these books, especially like Cieran was in this one, it hits me right in the feels. My favorite parts of the book involve re-visiting a lot of my favorite characters (Tiger, Xander, Rae, Ben/Gil, Dimitri, Jaycee, Dylan, Sean, etc.) and places (the magic/sentient haunted house!) from past stories. I truly love reading about how past characters are getting on. We also meet a new collar-less shifter and his half-fae mate (and their cub) who I hope we'll get to hear more from in the future. I also appreciated the fact that it seems like Ben is finally going to get a chance at a mate.
