I enjoy Swanson’s writing style and character development, and found the dual-timeline captivating. I didn’t predict the “twist” which is always fun, and the story kept me guessing and wanting to figure more out. The content is disturbing but overall handled in a thought-provoking way. Four stars for me as I felt the story lost some of its luster after the reveal, seemed to just stumble into an ending. it was satisfying for Alice and John/Jack to get what they deserved in the end, though!
