Sometimes I read a book with my brain and other times I read a book with a… different part of my anatomy. The only way I got through this book is because I thought Simon was hot, but not hot enough to carry the entire book by far. I found Emily, the main character super annoying and PAINFULLY obtuse. Like sometimes I felt like it was valid given her traumatic past relationship to not notice certain things, but she CONSTANTLY said asshole things and did not apologize when she realized she was wrong. The first 100 pages were Emily being a bitch to Simon when he was acting more or less like a totally normal dude? Like I get that this was enemies to lovers but why was Simon Emily’s enemy? Am I just going through the world acting like a dick and not realizing it cus all of Simon’s behavior seemed totally normal to me. He told her a piece of paperwork was missing an important detail, and asked her to set a good example at this event where she was chaperoning kids. And from that point on she hated him? Why? How was Simon, Chris, April, even Cait so well written when the main character was awful. If you have a lot of patience for a very rough main character, and are desperate for a spicy book that has only 1.5 sex scenes in it, maybe this one is for you!
