Stella has just found out that she will have to vacate her beloved apartment, there is a blizzard coming to NYC and there is this vaguely familiar guy sort of stalking her through the shop aisles. And when she reaches for the last carton of mint chocolate-chip ice-cream, she kinda panics and boom , kisses him! The startled man lets the kissing thief leave with the ice-cream...
The man is none other that John 'Jax" Blackwood, member of world famous rock band Kill John. Very little things stir something in him these days and the kissing bandit surely stirred something! But alas, she's nowhere to be found.
Fast-forward to a few days and Stella is now comfortably situated at her new job - pet sitting for someone whom she doesn't really know. She was hired by a Mr Scott under all sorts of secrecy and subterfuge, with the warning not to engage with her temporary neighbor... But her neighbor is annoying the crap out of her with all the noise coming from his apartment and she literally breaks into his apartment to complain... and finds the guy from the store, buck naked playing guitar. And he's Jax.
They keep running into each other everywhere because apparently they have very similar tastes. They have fun together and soon they can't resist the pull. But Jax has pretty big demons to fight.. and so does Stella. Can they fight them together?
I swear this series has the BEST. MEET. CUTES. EVER!! I was really excited to read Jax's story because he intrigued me from the very first book. I knew this was going to be heavier than the other ones, because we knew from the first book that Jax had tried to take his own life. Stella is also a broken sou. Abandoned to her own devices at age 18 by her grifter dad, she has severe trust and abandonment issues.
Although it deals with the subject of depression, it wasn't a dark book. I sometimes wished in delved a little deeper in the issue, since Jax's depression and suicide attempt in the past has severe repercussions to him and his adopted family.
I loved their romance. I loved the setting NYC, a city that Stella knows as a true NYer. Great read!
Bonus: we get to see a lot of Scottie/Sophie, catch with  up Killian and Libby too.
Narration: great narrators, but be aware that the audiobook is 14 hours long!!
Possible triggers: intrusive thoughts, mentions of an attempted suicide, abandonment issues, toxic relationships with parents, aftermath of suicide attempt for family/friends, death of a friend
