Perfect Ruin by Lauren DeStefano

4.0

I really enjoy Lauren DeStefano's writing style. It is very poetry and cathartic. This book, like Wither, I really love the style. Unlike wither however, I was not disappointed by the end of this book and fully intend to continue reading the series. I really enjoyed the mysticism that surrounded the main character, and how I was still able to get who she was at the character, while leaving her daydream-like style in tact. I really enjoyed the world that was created in the city of Internment, but I worry what the ground is going to turn into for them. The heading at the beginning speaking of the gods was super cool, as was the chapter headings from Daphne's essay. I really loved the characters, and unlike most books where characters start out in a relationship, I really came to believe Basil and Morgan's relationship by the end. While it wasn't as "intense" as most YA stuff, it was enjoyable and I found myself rooting for them.
