Anybody Out There? by Marian Keyes

4.0

I'm a sucker for this type of book, but it's funny, I really didn't think this was going to be a sad book. I had shoehorned Keyes into strictly chick-lit (although usually quite well written) where the female protagonist gets into all sorts of hijinx as she finds herself and changes her life. This was definitely not in that mold. I actually had to take breaks from reading because I found the descriptions of what Anna was going through to be so real, and exactly how I would have handled her situation as well. I was not a fan of the emails from home, which seemed to try and add extra hijinx to bring this serious novel back to the chick lit realm, and it just didn't work for me.
