It's Always the Husband by Michele Campbell
3.0
Kate was beautiful, wealthy, lively, but mentally unstable.
Jenny was ambitious, she strived for greatness but with little tolerance for undetermined people.
Aubrey was trying to prove herself, coming from a broken home she wanted to fit it in but could be overbearing at times.
The 3 girls met the first day of college after finding out they were going to be roommates.
Their bond quickly growing with Kate as the ring leader. They became inseparable but the friendship was codependent and toxic. One tragic night because of the girls, someone died. Despite how toxic the relationship was they managed to keep in touch after college was done, mainly through the trauma that bonded them together and the lies that started that night.
Twenty years later and the 3 girls are living in the same town twith their families and life seems great on the surface.
That is until Kate is found dead in the river.
Her husband, another college friend of the group, accused of her murder.
With affairs, the toxic friendship, unresolved grudges and trauma that story is a little unpredictable at times.
I enjoyed the story line but I didn’t like a lot of the characters. I found them to be really bad for each other in a lot of ways and selfish.
It was still a good read, but not my favourite one from this author.
