Ladyboys: The Secret World of Thailand's Third Gender by Susan Aldous, Pornchai Sereemongkonpol

challenging informative reflective sad fast-paced

3.0

A series of short biographies of Thai ladyboys - though they do try and cover a range of ages and classes, it does become repetitive. Young boy realizes he's queer, family doesn't quite accept, starts transitioning and ends up working as a dancer/prostitute. The lucky ones run businesses later.

Some insights into the Thai culture, which as an outsider I saw as more progressive to gender than their experiences shower. Interesting if nothing else.
