I really have to say that this was an excellent book. If I were to rate the Standalones in order of personal preference, it would be:
BSC
Red Country
Heroes
All 3 were outstanding, and while the plot lines seemed a bit disjointed at first, I felt they tied together nicely. Some of them did seem to abruptly end, and I ultimately wasn't 100% sold on the ending which is why I didn't give it a 5.
With all that being said, I really believe Abercrombie to be one of my favorite authors and I really think that in order to get the full picture of what he can do you have to read past the first law trilogy itself and complete these three.
