This book includes many scenes of police brutality, surveillance, and other racist and sexist acts committed against Assata. She recounts these by switching each chapter from growing up to her time in prison. The autobiography is informative and empowering for all women, and especially black women and mothers. Assata Shakur’s story needs to be known!
