The House with a Clock in Its Walls by John Bellairs

4.0

I came to this book, on the heels of the movie. I was curious to see how much it was like the movie. The first part of the book followed the movie events, then eventually as most books do veered off, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. I'm always fascinated by how little blips become major elements in the movie like Lewis' Magic Eightball, it was used throughout the movie, but only appeared in the book toward the end. But despite being different it was still a good read, when I could focus long enough to read it kept me entertained, and I definantly adding the other books in the series to my to be read pile.
Favorite part: Lewis' first night in the house when he decides to read a book. This kid knows how to read a book. A comfy bed, a time when you won't be disturbed, and chocolates, that is the recipie for a perfect reading enviroment.
