Her childhood crush tried to warn Charlotte’s dad about the rake, but he encourages her to marry him anyway. Then the crush peaces out for 2 years until she’s really miserable.
For the first time in Charlotte’s marriage she does something wicked that she wants to do. The story has an unusual ending, that is happy, but not traditional. I really enjoyed the ending.
