101 Tips For Helping Your Child's Learning by Bukky Ekine-Ogunlana
5.0
Excellent Read for Parents
I am an educator as well as a parent and must say that I wish I could give this book out to parents as gifts! It was excellent. Well laid out and straight to the point. Great tone, not at all patronising and contained a wealth of games and strategies to help support children learning at home, without actually trying to recreate a school environment. From experience I can say it makes a huge difference to a child's attainment when they are supported at home and when a positive attitude is fostered at home and this helps parents gain ideas on how to do this, especially where a parent might not feel confident in literacy or numeracy themselves. The best chapter was the one that addresses homes that don't speak English as a first language. There is lots to help children acquire language even if it isn't being used fluently at home. I can highly recommend this book.
