The Lola Quartet by Emily St. John Mandel

3.0

I desperately wanted to love this book. Not for any particular reason, but just because I am in a moment where I want books that I can read in about 2-3 days and just adore. I read this in 2 days, so it did that job, but I didn't so much love it. I didn't hate it though, so that's great news as well. I definitely don't want to be hating any books these days, I don't have the energy for that. It's just that the characters were meh (which I think they were supposed to be) and by the end where there is a big moral dilemma they all face as a result of actions taken 10 years prior, I kind of didn't care so much. Also, you had to buy into so many unbelievable coincidences to get to the present point in the novel that it got a bit difficult after awhile. Finally, the main character was a weenie. And then it ended.

I feel like it could have been saved for me if the main character, Gavin, had acted differently at the end when it came to Chloe. Not wanting to spoil it, I will say no more.
