I could not put this book down, which is rather surprising; nor Bull Mountain, the first in the series. These are not the type of books I am normally drawn to or even a region of the world that I typically want to read about. With that said, I devoured them and cannot wait for the next. The characters are well developed, the dialogue flows, the plot moves along, and there is just enough surprise to keep me engaged. What I like best about the characters is that they are flawed, but the author doesn't go overboard trying to balance them out with schmaltz.
