Twisted Love by Ana Huang

i am splitting this series with a friend, so this is only one of two books i’ll be reading from this series. and thank GOD. let’s discuss a bit, shall we?

*1.5 stars — 1 star for having a more interesting plot than another series i just tried (and failed) to read, half a star for the fact that i disliked it and finished the book anyway.

i have many thoughts, most of them about how much i absolutely despise alex volkov. this is y’all’s man??? the one who takes pride in stalking a poor girl and threatening death in excruciating detail to any man that so much as looks at her??? i get that a protective man is sexy, but guys… y’all have taken it too far.

both of the main characters are just so mid. alex seems to fall for ava out of nowhere and then spends the last few chapters of the book (which are horrendous because they’re very clearly rushed) pining for her in the most concerning ways possible (the aforementioned stalking). by the way, have i mentioned that i can’t stand alex volkov?? y’all can keep your brooding, rich, mysterious men at this point honestly bc i’m so tired.

i can’t tell you how confused i got with all the who killed who, who tried to kill who, who was putting out a hit on who. it got to the point where i could have cared less if they all just up and died.

as an aside, the author really dedicated this book to her MOTHER and then promptly followed that up by telling her mother not to read said book. i’m sure she did because she’s her mother, but i still hope she didn’t read this book. between the smut scenes and the way all the parents were treated in this book, i’d be scarred for life.

finally, i never, never, NEVER want to read another sentence about a woman’s nipples. its actually unbelievable how many of those there are in this book.
