This has to be one of the quirkier books I've read lately. It's about an underwater kingdom ruled by a king whose aim is immortality. In secret, he captures those who would oppose him, as well as his healthy & hale son-in-law, and transfers their brains into the bodies of air-breathing animals. Said son-in-law escapes, only to find that his body is now that of a young inventor's cat who had previously gone missing. Pleased to be reunited with her cat, Sonja is quickly shocked at the changes Victuals (which is the coolest cat name ever) has undergone, especially his new-found ability to speak to her. Victuals must return to his underwater home to rescue his fiance before her twisted father has transferred her brain to a furry creature as well!
The story was well done, but infinitely strange.
